I’ve always been interested in American and Civil War history and fascinated with the early portraits that came about from the relatively new invention of the camera. There has always been something unsettling and mesmerizing about the haunted look Lincoln has in that iconic image of our most beloved President. It’s the look of a man who has lived through awesome and horrendous times, etched out in every line and crevice in his face, but most of all in his eyes. It was an image that I wanted to try and capture in every detail into pen and ink.
